Lucas Now Hiring For Star Wars TV Series

September 18, 2005 By S. K. Sloan 3 Comments

Lucasfilm’s is actively looking for screenwriters to pen its TV series based on George Lucas’ Star Wars film saga.

The catch? The writers will be required to script the shows in a ‘semi-sequestered state’ at the Lucas’, security conscience, Skywalker Ranch. Work on the TV project will begin in January 2006. Lucas and his colleague Rick McCallum will produce.

The main premise is reportedly to concern itself with the Imperial Bounty Hunters and takes place after the newly formed dark-side ruled Empire has come to power.

In an earlier interview with BBC News, Lucas said, “Like on ‘The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles,’ we want to write all the stories for the entire first season all at once.” “I’m going to get it started, and hire the show runners and all of that, then I’ll probably step away,” he said.

Lucas added that the live action series story’s will all feature the events taking place between movie episodes three and four, “Revenge of the Sith” and ” A New Hope.”

The plan is for approximaely 50 hours of programming that will be a mixture of live-action and CGI. Actual filming is scheduled to take place on location in Australia sometime in 2007.

Also, as reported earlier by Slice of SciFi, Lucas has a 3-D animated Star Wars TV series dedicated to The Clone Wars in the offing.
