This week, our favorite storm-trooper TD-0013 celebrates the 30th anniversary of and offers us his thoughts on what many consider to be the best of the Star Wars saga, The Empire Strikes Back.
When asked which of the Star Wars films their favorite is, most people choose the Empire Strikes Back, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Back in May of 1980, the second film in what would come to be known as the Star Wars saga hit theaters across the globe. I was around 10 years old at the time, and while the first film, Star Wars, had captured my imagination, it was The Empire Strikes Back that really cinched the deal for me. I was a Sci-Fi geek and there wasn’t anything anyone could do about it. What was it about this film that surpassed the first in so many regards?

Production on this year's "Doctor Who" Christmas special will begin next month. When Matt Smith resumes his role as the Doctor, he'll be joined by guest stars Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins, according to the BBC.
Gambon is a veteran actor, recently seen as Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films. Jenkins is an opera star and the latest singer to take a role in a holiday-themed episode of the series.

Last Friday, rumors sprang up on-line that director Christopher Columbus would take the reigns for the next Superman movie.
It's not clear if Columbus was in talks to direct the film or where the story came from, but it was all attributed to anonymous sources.
While we don't yet know many details about the next Batman installment, actor Michael Caine says that he believes the next movie will begin filming next year. When it comes to the box-office, animated movies are the king this summer. "Toy Story 3" is the top grossing film of the summer and the year and this week the animated comedy "Despicable Me" took the top spot, earning $60.1 million in box-office sales.
The debut was $20 million more than predicted by Hollywood experts. While the film isn't part of a franchise, many in Hollywood expect a sequel announcement to come soon.

We've known for months that James Cameron wanted another chance to milk some more money out of allow audiences to see "Avatar" again in theaters.
The new director's cut of "Avatar," which will run eight minutes longer than the original version, will come out on August 27.
If you walked out of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" wanting a longer cut of the film, you won't be getting it. Director M. Night Shyamalan says that all his movies are "director's cut" when they're released to theaters and he has no plans to go back and extend "Airbender" when it hits DVD.
However, the director does plan to include several deleted scenes from the film on the disc.
