If director J.J. Abrams decides there should be more Spock Prime in the upcoming “Star Trek” sequel, actor Leonard Nimoy says he’s game to reprise his most recognizable role.
“My sense is that he has some work to do,” Nimoy told “Star Trek Communicator.” “He talked about establishing a new Vulcan colony, and I think he will be very involved in that. If we never see him again that is what I would imagine he is doing. He is busy rebuilding the Vulcan story.”
However, Nimoy says he understands if the film series decides to go in a different direction in the next installment.
“”I have no illusions on whether or not they need me,” he said. “They decided that they wanted to make this film using Spock as kind of an anchor for the story, which I think worked very, very well. They don’t have to do that again. If they decide they have a role for me to play, I would be very interested in talking to them about it. But I have every reason to believe that they have established a whole new set of characters, and they can sail very well without me, and that’s fine. Either way is good with me. I am very gratified that this has happened.”

Leonard has always been a man of class and his wilingness to do what is right for Trek regardless of his personal desires is even more proof of that. Live Long and Prosper Leonard.

Nimoy must be pretty good friends with Abrams now, doing more Star Trek, and also appearing on Fringe.

He seems to understand that if it makes sense for the story then yes, otherwise there isn’t a need to have a parade of cameo appearances just for the sake of it. Finally, an actor that gets it.
