DeBoer to guest star on Atlantis

April 15, 2008 by Michael Hickerson   || Category: TV News

Gateworld reports that veteran genre-actress Nicole deBoer will make a guest appearance next year on Stargate: Atlantis. DeBoer will guest star as Dr. Alison Porter, part of an all-female recon team.

“She is someone we’ve been wanting to get on the show for a while now and we’re pleased the opportunity has finally presented itself,” producer Joe Mallozzi wrote on his blog.

Porter is described as a “cute nerd” who strikes up a friendship with Carson Beckett when he and Sheppard arrive on the planet which Porter’s team is exploring.

The rest of the team will be played by Leela Savista, Christina Cox and Janina Gavankar.

DeBoer is a veteran of sci-fi shows, including a season as Ezri Dax on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and six years as Sara on The Dead Zone.  The episode of Atlantis will air later this year.

It’s good to see her still doing something. It was unfortunate that “The Dead Zone” got canceled, especially without a proper finale.

Stargate has rapidly become the SciFi actor refugee center. Not that I mind, I like to see my favorite actors continuing to work. I just find it amusing that they all seem to end up on Stargate. :)
