Writer-Director Douglas Forrester and actors Joel Meyers and Helen Laser talk about CARRY THE DARKNESS, premiering on BloodStream on Friday August 14.

Doug talks about the evolution of the story from a short film about an unknown monster in the woods into a feature telling a Twin Peaks inspired story centered around a Satanic Panic story about false allegations and undiscovered monsters. Joel and Helen talk about finding the characters in themselves and how the ideas around having to convince people who have hardened opinions about who they think you are that affect everything that happens when things go wrong.

Doug also talks about finding the clothing and music to fit the time the film is set in, and the playlists used to create the musical moods to complement the composer Travis Bacon who designed the incidental music. The soundtrack contains music separate from the score, including music from the bands Sanhedrin and Vicious Blade, and Travis Bacon’s band Contracult.

Principal photography for the movie started in Fall 2021, while editing and minor pickup shoots and inserts were done throughout 2022 and 2023. Doug tackled the variety of special effects over time, and other elements that went into picture and audio editing.

CARRY THE DARKNESS debuts on BloodStream August 14th, followed by digital rollouts on Amazon, Apple TV, Direct TV, Google Play, and Vimeo, plus a Blu-ray release on September 8th from The Horror Collective that include 3 deleted scenes and a commentary track. The film’s score will be released by Travis Bacon on September 10, including a planned limited run cassette tape.
