Author and classic scifi TV historian Fred McNamara talks about the new ALL SECTIONS ALPHA: THE MAKING OF SPACE: 1999 coffee table book, coming out soon from Anderson Entertainment.
Fred talks about the work that’s gone into updating this book, which has been in progress for well over a year, taking the original paperback by Tim Heald originally published in 1976, expanding it to cover the entire series, and updating the original copy with more information, pictures and behind-the-scenes details, expanded episode details and spinoff media, and much more.
The additional media that expanded the series, the comics, the Big Finish audio dramas, and more were happy additions to this coffee table edition, in addition to the many retrospectives of the cast and crew that could be included.
He talks about the very hands-on involvement of Barbara Bain, and how her contributions to the editorial aspects of the book were invaluable, from the perspective of someone who was there and can provide first-hand corrections or clarifications on information in the book, making this likely to be the ultimate guidebook on SPACE: 1999.
Fred also shares details about the newly announced 4K Steelbook release of the SPACE: 1999 Season 2 premiere episode “The Metamorph”, how it was restored and the extensive bonus features, including audio commentary tracks, the “50 Years Out of Orbit” documentary, and much more.
There’s also Volumes 1 and 2 of the definitive Thunderbirds collected anthologies of the original comics, and other comics anthologies that may or may not be on the table as upcoming projects.
Currently, ALL SECTIONS ALPHA is listed as having a publication date of September 22, but pre-orders are available from Amazon and the Gerry Anderson Store.
