Comics artist & illustrator Jim Rugg talks about “Wolverine: Weapon X”, his book for Bloomsbury Academic’s “Marvel Age of Comics” series examining the impact and importance of the Weapon X origin story written and illustrated by Barry Windsor-Smith.

Jim talks about how the artwork of the comics he read attracted him more than the stories, and how he followed the artists more than the actual titles. He also goes into the deeper contexts around the characters around Logan during the experiments being done to him during this run, how WEAPON X still holds up well so many years later. Jim also talks about how WEAPON X influenced inspired his desire to become an artist, and much more.

We still likely have never seen the full origin story as Chris Claremont had envisioned back then, but the influence still rippled through the X-Men in the 80s and 90s.

And I truly hope Jim gets to do another Marvel Age of Comics book, examining ELEKTRA: ASSASSIN would be a delight.
