Comics writer, editor and historian Chris Ryall talks about his new book, “Daredevil: Born Again: An Exploration”, part of Bloomsbury Academic’s new Marvel Age of Comics series featuring deep dives into historical eras, origins, and epic storylines from 85 years of Marvel Comics.
Chris talks about his unimpressed discovery of Daredevil as a kid and how that fan relationship later evolved after experiencing Frank Miller’s writing Daredevil’s stories. He then dives into his study of the long emotional and mental slide into darkness that Matt Murdock had been experiencing before the start of the “Born Again” story arc, and the methodical yet petty nature of Kingpin’s dismantling of Matt’s life, resulting in one of the most compelling story lines in Marvel history.
