Comics writer Margaret Stohl and “Women of Marvel” podcast producer Judith Stephens have written a book worthy of being a textbook for a media history course, and it is a joy to savor reading.
Judy talks about how the podcast came to be and how producing that led to meeting so many of the minds and creative forces behind Marvel and Marvel Comics titles, and Margaret talks about the early history of Marvel and how women shaped the processes behind the scenes as well as being colorists beyond the office staff, and both talk about their own histories with getting into comics.
There truly needs to be a better, more comprehensive archive of the historical materials of Marvel, and the comics industry in general.
Marvel fans can also keep an eye out in November for the new Marvel Comics series from Bloomsbury Academic: “Marvel Age of Comics” Explores the Stories Behind the Legends
Margaret & Judy will be at San Diego Comic-Con on July 27, and plans are in progress for them to be at New York Comic Con in October.
