Pop Culture Detective and Author Mark Edlitz returns to discuss more James Bond lore, with his newest book Keeping 007 Alive, which is a follow up to last year’s James Bond After Fleming to explore the Bond stories in print.
He talks about the Ian Fleming Publications and their selection of authors to continue publishing James Bond novels after Fleming’s death in 1964 and the place in the Bond history of the “continuation novels” overall. Mark explains a little about the separation of “James Bond” movies and the literary productions, and how the family foundation maintains the legacy.
Mark also talks about talking to the different authors who’d been selected to write continuation novels, and Corrine Turner’s management of Ian Fleming Publications over the years, meticulously guiding the direction of those novels and approving the stories that will get into print.
There is also a “missing” manuscript, so let’s help Mark find it for his next book!
