“Earth Abides”, based on the best-selling classic post-apocalyptic science fiction novel by George Stewart, has been adapted into a television series.
The novel depicts the fall of civilization from deadly disease and the emergence of a new culture with simpler tools. Set in the 1940s in Berkeley, California, the story is told by Isherwood Williams, who emerges from isolation in the mountains to find almost everyone dead.
The 6-epiosde series is slated to premiere on December 1, 2024, on MGM+
In Earth Abides, when a plague of unprecedented virulence sweeps the globe, the human race is all but wiped out. In the aftermath, as the great machine of civilization slowly and inexorably breaks down, only a few shattered survivors remain to struggle against the slide into extinction.
