Seance is a “mean girls” boarding school supernatural horror film, that’s a fun throwback to the pre-1980s “slasher” style of horror, where the unfortunate targeted group is picked off one by one.
While this is more a review of the blu-ray release of the movie, you can still check out Noah’s review of the feature: “Seance” is an entertaining ride of twists and turns
The DVD and Blu-ray bonus features include:
· Director Commentary
· Behind the Scenes of Seance
· Outtakes
· Deleted Scenes
· Decapitation Pre-Viz
· Behind the Scenes Photo Gallery
Having a commentary track from any of the filmmakers and/or cast is a rare treat these days, and this one doesn’t disappoint. Between the commentary and the Behind the Scenes (Making of), you get the sense that making this movie was just as much fun as watching it.
Including blooper reels is also a lost art, perhaps due to lower feature budgets? Just because everything is digital and easier to store doesn’t mean studios will actually use that footage as bonus content on home video media. I wish we had an easier way to convince them otherwise!
Also, having commentary tracks on the deleted scenes was awesome, but to not have a way to play them all at once instead of selecting each one individually? That’s a design flaw, likely made by someone who has never watch bonus features on disc before. Ever.
All in all, if you’re a fan of the movie, this blu-ray would be an enhanced treat.
Camille Meadows is the new girl at the prestigious Edelvine Academy for Girls. Soon after her arrival, six girls invite her to join them in a late-night ritual, calling forth the spirit of a dead former student who reportedly haunts their halls. But before morning, one of the girls is dead, leaving the others wondering what they may have awakened.
