This week, Summer chats with Ashlee Blackwell, founder of Graveyard Shift Sisters, about the Ax Wound Film Festival, and what she’s doing to help promote women creatives in film.

Ashley talks about the evolving focus of the website towards black women in horror and the history of horror featuring and created by women of color from an academic point of view, and how the Ax Wound Film Festival came about and has grown in such a short time.

Ax Wound Film Festival and Ax Wound—the official Women in Horror Month blog—are subsidiaries of Women in Horror Month. Women in Horror Month (WiHM) is an international, grassroots initiative, which encourages supporters to learn about and showcase the underrepresented work of women in the horror industries.
