“Thor: Ragnarok”: Too Much Humor, Not Enough Marvel?

“Thor: Ragnarok”: Too Much Humor, Not Enough Marvel?

November 3, 2017 By Noah Richman and Daren Gulsvig Leave a Comment

Noah and Daren quite enjoyed Thor: Ragnarok, the third Thor movie and newest entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but they also feel that the heavier emphasis on comedy may sacrifice a little too much of the character Thor that comics fans have come to know and love over the years.

And yes, they both think back on the first two Thor movies with higher regard now.

Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against me to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo
Directed by: Taika Waititi
Screenplay by: Eric Pearson
Story by: Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost, Eric Pearson
Based on: The Marvel comics by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Jack Kirby

Thor: Ragnarok
