Shawn Case
Shawn Case
EIS Program Manager
Shawn Case always wondered why no space-bound vehicle was ever named Enterprise. The more he thought about it, the more he realized how out of sorts that was, since Star Trek and it’s iconic starship were huge influences that inspired several generations to turn their eyes and imaginations towards the stars.

Welcome to the “Enterprise in Space” project.

Part science mission, part design competition, “Enterprise in Space” begins with a search for a functional design for an orbiter that will take students science projects into orbit and return them safely to Earth.

Summer chats with Shawn and Larry Nemecek about the program, how it came to be sponsored by the National Space Society, about the plans for the student science projects that will fly in space, the design contest for the orbiter vehicle, and much more.
