“Toy Story of Terror”: Too scary for the younger kids

October 16, 2013 By Laith Preston Leave a Comment

I just had the chance to watch the brand-new Toy Story of Terror with the girls. We were really looking forward to it and thought it was going to be your usual cheesy spooky, kids fare, unfortunately it was a lot scarier than anticipated. The girls definitely were a little freaked out by parts before it got to the good stuff.

Without going into too much detail, I will say that they definitely managed to pull off many of the horror movie staples very well. The suddenly disappearing companion, the swiftly moving shadows, the disembodied arm… ok so that was Mr Potato Head’s but you get the idea.

Once you get to the big reveal the show turns to the usual comedy and story you expect from the Toy Story franchise. Overall it was enjoyable but not really something to watch more than once.

10 year old: it was kinda boring and a little scary, the manager yeah right
7 year old: really really scary
3 year old: was scary

To sum it all up, not great but not bad. For you parents out there know your kids, it’s not right for all of them.
