Moore Adapting Best-Selling “Outlander” Novels for TV

Moore Adapting Best-Selling “Outlander” Novels for TV

April 30, 2013 By Michael Hickerson 1 Comment

Ron Moore is coming back to TV in a big way.

We already know about his upcoming series Helix for Syfy.  Now comes news that Moore is developing Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling fantasy romance-series Outlander for television.

The book series is a genre-spanning fantasy epic, blending everything from action to period drama to romance. The books follow World War II combat nurse Claire, who is accidentally sent back in time to the year 1743.

Starz is developing the project for a while now, but it appears things are moving forward with the addition of Moore.  Moore has hired Ira Behr, Anne Kennedy, Toni Graphia and Matt Roberts to write scripts for the potential series and pilot.

Should Starz like what Moore comes up with, odds are the cable outlet could give the series an order without needing a pilot.

He’s doing a show on the Outlander series?

This’ll be interesting since the books are probably as long, if not longer, than the LOTR books (IMO).

If you’d like more info on the books themselves…. this is the author’s side: https://www.dianagabaldon.com/books/outlander-series/outlander/

As for Helix — hard to have an opinion on something I know almost nothing about.
