While the name Jim Mees may not be immediately familiar to many, odds are you are familiar with his work.
Mees was the set designer for a variety of classic American TV shows including Star Trek: The Next Generation. Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise.
Mees passed away at his home on March 29 at the age of 59.
He received five Emmy nominations for his work with those futuristic sets.
He also worked on sets for some of the big sitcoms and dramas of the past several decades including One Day at a Time, The Jeffersons, Gilmore Girls and Bones.
In the mid-1990s, Mees taught set design and decoration at the Watkins Institute of Art in Nashville, Tenn
He is survived by his life partner Dr. Michael Smyth, his mother, Helen, and his siblings Sherene, Kathy and Dan.
