Did Eccleston Pull Out of “Who” Anniversary?

Did Eccleston Pull Out of “Who” Anniversary?

April 5, 2013 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

The latest rumor swirling around the big fiftieth anniversary celebration of Doctor Who is that we almost got actor Christopher Eccleston to reprise his role as the ninth Doctor.

The Daily Star reports that Eccleston was interested in reprising his role as the ninth Doctor and starring with David Tennant and Matt Smith in the upcoming anniversary special.  But the Star indicates that Eccleston decided to back out of the project just as filming was set to begin.

The BBC has denied the story, saying that Eccleston never agreed to reprise the role.

The Daily Star is a British tabloid and so the story should be taken with a grain of salt.

That said, would you like to see Eccleston back for the anniversary?

Would love to see him in it. It won’t happen.

As his been reported numerous times, he will not come back because he wants nothing to do with Doctor Who. He made that clear when he quit the show and he made it clear again when he was approached about reprising his role.
