“Trek” Fans Could Get Early Holiday Gift

“Trek” Fans Could Get Early Holiday Gift

November 15, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

J.J. Abrams is looking to give us an early holiday gift.

According to reports, nine minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness will open in 1400 IMAX theaters across the country on December 14.   It’s likely the preview footage will be attached to the first installment of The Hobbit that opens that day.

IMAX chairman Greg Foster said, “Our longtime partners J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and the Bad Robot team have really hit it out of the park—the footage is absolutely incredible. Their use of the IMAX camera and canvas is sure to impress current and future Star Trekfans alike, and we’re thrilled to once again work with our friends at Paramount Pictures to offer this extended ‘first look’ at this highly anticipated summer blockbuster.”

Oh dear… I’m not the biggest fan of seeing movies in IMAX, but now I’ll have to go and see The Hobbit that way if indeed that nine minutes of the new Trek film will only be seen there…

    NUTS!!!
