After twenty four years, Nintendo Power will cease publication at year’s end.
In a statement released Wednesday, Nintendo revealed parent media firm Future US “will end production” of the magazine after its December issue.
Details of Nintendo Power’s demise were first reported by Ars Technica, citing a “source” claiming Nintendo was “uninterested in renewing that contract or in taking part in a number of digital initiatives that Future saw as necessary for the long-term health of the brand.”

Nintendo Power was a staple in many households with a Nintendo console. Among those mourning its loss is Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski, whose name was featured in the first issue among high scorers in the NES classic Super Mario Bros.
“The magazine had a great run, and it will be missed, as will its enthusiasm, especially in a digital age that can sometimes be quick to damn before praising,” Bleszinski writes in a piece for gaming site Kotaku.
