For years, fans wondered if the Dark Knight might make an appearance in Smallville.
Ten years and it never happened. Part of the reason was the screen rights for Batman were bound to the latest series of movies.
But now that Christopher Nolan has completed his Batman trilogy, could the Dark Knight be ready to cameo on the upcoming DC tv series Green Arrow?
According to IGN, it could happen.
Arrow creator Mark Guggenheim says that he’s open to and interested in having Batman cameo on the upcoming CW series.
“Oh, my hope is that we can use him at some point,”Guggenheim says. “I think that plagued the Smallville showrunners more than it plagues us because, obviously, the Dark Knight trilogy is over. They’re not available to us yet. My hope is that they’ll be available to us at some point. That would be awesome. No question, that would be absolutely awesome. But I don’t know. That’s above my pay grade.”
I was hoping for some analysis of which ‘big name’ characters are not already licensed to someone, and, hence, would be eligible for rights-acquisition so as to make an appearance in Green Arrow. Alas, a better title for article “Why Batman did *not* appear in Smallville”.
Why not Green Lantern? They can’t possibly be planning another movie.
I hope they will be doing something with the Black Canary. GA & BC are one of the great comic book couples.
I could live without the many variations on Speedy.
What if they go deep into the Golden Age and have other members of the “Seven Soldiers of Victory” turn up?
Given that the some of the seven soldiers have silly names like “The Crimson Avenger,” I was thinking it would be a comic relief episode.
