Two high profile end of summer movies went up against the Batman…and lost.
The reboot of Total Recall and the latest Wimpy Kid movie both debuted this weekend but couldn’t topple Christopher Nolan’s final segment of the Dark Knight saga from the top of the box-office.
The Dark Knight Rises took in $36.4 million in its third weekend of release.
In second place was Total Recall with $25 million and in third was Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days with $14.7 million.
Rounding out the top five were Ice Age: Continental Drift with $8.4 million and The Watch with $6.3 million.
