“The Dark Knight Returns” Announces Voice Cast

“The Dark Knight Returns” Announces Voice Cast

May 23, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

The upcoming DC Animated adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns has announced its voice cast.

Peter Weller will play Bruce Wayne aka Batman with Ariel Winter from Modern Family voicing Robin.

Also in the cast are David Selby, the veteran actor who starred in the original Dark Shadows soap opera as well as the classic 1980s soap Falcon Crest; Wade Williams (Prison Break) as Harvey Dent/Two-Face; and Michael McKean as Dr. Wolper, the psychiatrist who releases the Joker from the insane asylum.

Based on the influential graphic novel, the project is directed by Jay Olivia and will split up the graphic novel into two releases. The first movie, which will be released under the DC Comics Premiere Movie brand, will hit shelves in the fall. Part 2 will be released in early 2013.

I’ll definitely watch it but I was a little disappointed with Year 1. Not sure what it was missing but I think it could have fleshed out the story a little more. DKR is a very cinematic graphic novel and I think the fact that they are making two films to tell more of the story bodes well.
