DC is getting ready for a major character to come out of the closet.
At the recent Kapow comics convention in London, DC co-publisher Dan DiDio told The Advocate that he’s reversed an early stance on not having one of the major characters in the DC universe be gay as part of the publisher’s reboot. DiDio originally said that he thought it would be better to introduce more gay and bi-sexual characters rather than to have an already established character come out.
He claimed that the company’s about to re-introduce a previously straight character who will become “one of our most prominent gay characters” alongside the likes of Batwoman.
No word yet on which major character DC will choose. You can speculate in the comments below. Please keep the conversation polite.

All for gay and lesbian character but would prefer the introduction of new heroes than changing established characters. Of course I hate the constant reboots and re-imagining of our favorite characters. Heck it’ll probably be superman since last I read he and Lois won’t be together anymore.

If the rumors that the character going gay is Superman who wants to bet that it gets changed and blamed on pink kryptonite? I don’t think the people at DC are stupid enough to make that major a change to Superman. I think it’s a lot more likely that it will be Superboy, after all he had two fathers and no mother.

If it’s Batman, than you can count me out. But personally I wouldn’t mind if it was superman the whole underpants things did make him seem a little gay and I never really understood why he was with Lois anyway, but hey that’s me.

What if it’s Lex or Poison Ivy? It just says major character not major Hero. When they say “major” I think core Justice League however. In that case my money is on Flash just because I’m unaware if his sexuality was ever an important part of his character.

I’m rooting for Wonder Woman.
Hot Amazonian Lesbian. What more would a testosterone surging pubescent boy ask for?

At the end of the day the characters should be interesting enough for readers to keep reading. Gay, straight, or other, who really cares. The marketing behind this all just seems like they’re trying to say, “Hey, look at us and how we’re all socially relevant and stuff.” The Pied Piper came out ages ago. Just go on about your business and make good comics people actually want to read. Thank you and good night.

People say that global warming or nuclear war or even the Mayan apocalypse of 2012 will spell the destruction of mankind. I say no. Mankind’s destruction shall eventually & inevitably come about due to political correctness gone ape-shit. If DC wants to make a character gay, fine. Making it sound groundbreaking or revolutionary just seems like an attempt to make it more controversial than socially acceptable.

The Flash.

How about the whole 52 in the reboot? In for a penny, in for a pound. Why stop with just one? Then you can have quick men, men of steel, elongated men, bat men and bat women, the whole Green Lantern corps, Shazam, the olympic gods, and amazon women on the earth and the moon. Why not introduce a polygamy league too? But Marvel will have always beat you to it. Second always DC.
