“Fringe” Gets Final Season

April 26, 2012 By Michael Hickerson 9 Comments

Fringe fans can stop fretting about whether or not the series will get a final season to wrap things up.  Fox has renewed the series for a final season of thirteen episodes.

Fox president Kevin Reilly announced the renewal today.

“Fringe is a remarkably creative series that has set the bar as one of television’s most imaginative dramas. Bringing it back for a final 13 allows us to provide the climactic conclusion that its passionate and loyal fans deserve,” said Reilly “The amazing work the producers, writers and the incredibly talented cast and crew have delivered the last four seasons has literally been out of this world. Although the end is bittersweet, it’s going to be a very exciting final chapter.”

This means the upcoming finale will only serve as a season finale and not a series finale.

Arg! I was really hoping this show would get axed. This season has been stale and very lame. Nothing pisses me off more than reboots. It’s typical these days for “Hollywood” to start over rather than writing better material. Eureka did the same thing, and I have hated it ever since.

I’ll never understand the mindset of someone HOPING a show gets cancelled. deathby2 there is plenty of other shows to watch–if you don’t like the direction Fringe has taken, its simple, don’t watch! Don’t begrudge those of us who are still avid fans to have closure!

This is great news, but still a bit bittersweet. I am so glad they can go out on their terms. But the show is written incredibly. The storylines and character are unlike anything else on TV. Its going to leave a void when its gone. But at least we get 13 more!
