Spinrad’s Lost “Trek” Script To Be Filmed

Spinrad’s Lost “Trek” Script To Be Filmed

March 5, 2012 By Michael Hickerson 1 Comment

Norman Spinrad’s lost Star Trek script, “He Walked Among Us” will produced after all.  It only took forty-five years for the script to get from page to the screen.

Discovered a few weeks ago after being considered lost, “He Walked Among Us” will be produced by the fan web series  Star Trek Phase 2.

The “lost” script, which was written in 1963 and soon edited to the point that Spinrad just asked for it to be axed, finds the crew of the Enterprise grappling with the leader of a civilization who has greatly abused the Prime Directive.

Spinrad revealed the filming project via his Facebook page, and guess who he’d like to star: none other than William Shatner himself, though not as who you might expect.

“I’d like to have William Shatner act in it—not as Kirk, but as Bayne! And Shatner being Shatner, I think I just might talk him into doing it since I did write ‘The Doomsday Machine,’ and he could read the script, and it’s just the sort of off the wall notion he might like.”
