IDW To Publish “Trek,” “Who” Crossover

IDW To Publish “Trek,” “Who” Crossover

February 13, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

Lots of fans have created mash-ups for Doctor Who and Star Trek on YouTube and in fan fic. But later this year, the TARDIS will materialize on board the NCC-1701 D.

According to Bleeding Cool, comic book publisher IDW will publish a Doctor Who/Star Trek: The Next Generation crossover series this coming May.

The Doctor, Amy and Rory will join the crew of the StarshipEnterprise, which includes Capt. Picard, Cmdr. Will Riker, Worf, Data, Geordi LaForge, Deanna Troi and the rest of the crew.

An official announcement is expected in about a week, when IDW is set to attend the Gallifrey One convention in the U.K.

This will be the first officially sanctioned cross-over for the Doctor.

Some fans may recall a particularly bad crossover that circulated at cons years ago called The Doctor and the Enterprise.   That crossed over the fourth Doctor and the crew of classic Trek.

Call me crazy, but I’m fascinated to find out how this will work out.

I’d be more enthusiastic for it if I actually liked “Dr. Who.” I don’t dislike it. It’s simply not something I find to be interesting or entertaining. But that’s just me. Probably some kind of genetic defect or something. 🙂

Remember folks, the Enterprise-D has already been visited by a time traveler in the episode “A Matter of Time”, but I doubt that’s what will happen here.

They are SO DIFFERENT that I can’t really see this working well, but, I will look for it. Perhaps just to see what they do and how, but I won’t expect much out of it.
