The movie, based on a graphic novel written by Kosinski himself, follows a soldier (Cruise) who scours the surface of an obliterated Earth looking for remnants of the alien race that leveled the planet a while back. He eventually comes upon a woman in a crashed spaceship who changes his life and everything he knows.
The film has cast its two female leads. According to Variety, Olga Kurylenko and Andrea Riseborough will star in the film.

Riseborough plays the mystery woman, while Kurylenko plays Cruise’s wife. Kurylenko has been seen as a Bond girl in Quantum of Solace and a savage Pictish warrior in the Dark Ages historical thriller Centurion. Cruise reportedly liked her from her very first screen test and preferred her over Olivia Wilde, Noomi Rapace and others.
Riseborough, meanwhile, is from England and has not been seen yet in an American film.
Production is supposed to start sometime before the end of March, and the movie is set for release in 2013.
