People still love playing Angry Birds.
The popular application game saw 6.5 million downloads on Christmas day according to AllThingsD. The record figure was close to the total number of smartphone activations estimated to have occurred over the holiday period.
The figures take into account three releases in the franchise, Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasonsand Angry Birds Rio, as well as free and paid-for versions.
By comparison, Angry Birds managed two million downloads on iOS and Android during Christmas 2010.
“We’re really excited to have such a massive number of new people get acquainted with Angry Birds over the holidays – we have exciting new releases lined up for 2012, and can’t wait to introduce them to the public,” said vice president of franchise development Ville Heijari.
