Has Abrams Found A New Khan?

Has Abrams Found A New Khan?

December 8, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

Earlier this week, we reported that Benicio Del Toro had left the upcoming Star Trek sequel over a salary dispute.

Now it appears that J.J. Abrams has found the actor to replace Del Toro in the role of Khan.

Blastr reports that Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez is Abrams’ pick to replace Del Toro. Ramirez, who’s not widely known to American audiences, blew critics away as the international terrorist Carlos the Jackal in the miniseries Carlos. He’s also been in Che, Domino and The Bourne Ultimatum, and will show up as Ares, the god of war, in next year’s Wrath of the Titans.

It isn’t confirmed that the villain will be Kahn. It is heavily rumored, but not official.

Has Hollywood lost its ability to be original? Khan was done very well on the big screen and doesn’t need a remake. Pick a different original Star Trek TV plot if so brain dead.

The new Trek is boring. Maybe it would be because they chose to use the oldest of characters to tell a “new” story. J.J. Abrams should focus on things a new. Namely Person of Interest.
