Barrowman Says “Torchwood” Future Is In Limbo

Barrowman Says “Torchwood” Future Is In Limbo

November 8, 2011 By Michael Hickerson 2 Comments

Actor John Barrowman says that the future of Torchwood is currently in limbo.

Following its recent fourth season, Barrowman says he’d love a chance to reprise his role as Captain Jack Harkness for another series, but that the decision isn’t up to him.  And right now, the series is on hold as the powers that be decide whether or not to bring it back for more.

“If there’s a pause button, we’ve pushed the pause button now because we don’t know what’s happening. I would love to do a new series and I will play Captain Jack as long as they want me to play Captain Jack, but it’s in limbo at the moment and beyond my control,” he says.

Barrowman goes on to add that he believes the spin-off series would be an ideal candidate to translate into a movie–even more than Doctor Who.

“I think that Torchwood, more so than Doctor Who, lends itself to being a big film because it’s more adult. Now if it was Doctor Who with David (Tennant) playing the Doctor—I’m going to get in trouble for saying this—I’d happily do a film with him,” he says.

I was really disappointed with how “Miracle Day” ended – if they can’t get back to the level of “Children” and/or season 2, then let it go….
