Torv Teases “Fringe”

Torv Teases “Fringe”

November 4, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

After a delay for post-season baseball, Fringe is back tonight on Fox and will begin to delve into the implications of the return of Peter Bishop.

Series star Anna Torv says that when it comes to Olivia, Walter and Astrid, the impact won’t be huge because in their universe Peter never existed.

“He’s never existed and doesn’t exist in this universe. He’s the one entering this world … whereas Walter and Olivia and Astrid have made do. This is how we’ve always known [life] to be,” she says.

Torv goes on to say that that the baby Peter fathered with alt-Olivia is also gone from the timeline and won’t be coming back either.

Torv says, “There’s no possible way that Henry could happen in this timeline, because Altlivia never met Peter.”

It’s also revealed that Peter’s return will take some time to be reconciled by all the characters on the show, especially Walter.   Actor John Nobel says that it may take some time for Walter to acknowledge and accept Peter.

It doesn’t sound like they’re going to change it back to what was now that Peter’s back… Love it!!!

I love this show for making a decision and refusing to go back on it. They hit the Great Galactic Reset Button ™ and allowed the universes to fundamentally change, and STAY CHANGED. Talk about balls…

“… because in their universe Peter never existed.”

Well, that’s not completely true. Peter did exist as a child, but he died before he could grow up to become the Peter that’s been on the series for the first three seasons.

Even though Peter has been talking about returning to his own timeline, everything that I’ve read suggests that he has no original timeline to return to and that he’ll be part of this new universe from here on out.

I did catch a brief glimpse of an Observer revealing to Olivia something that he deemed she should know. I wonder if he’ll fess up and admit to what really happened regarding Peter Bishop?
