No “Starcraft II” Console Port

No “Starcraft II” Console Port

August 30, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

If you’re waiting for a port of Starcraft II on a console, it looks like it won’t happen.  Blizzard confirmed they won’t pursue a console version of the PC game in the near future.

“I’m not saying it could never happen, but I don’t think a game like StarCraft II makes sense on a console,” senior designer Johnny Ebbert says. “We’d have to figure out a control scheme that works. Until a control scheme that really, really works comes out I just can’t see it happening.”

An expansion pack for the PC game is currently in the works and should hit stores early next year.

As an avid Starcraft II player, I’m ecstatic they aren’t making a console version. RTS games don’t translate well to consoles. It ends up being a watered down version that’s twice as slow to play. Until they start letting us use mice and keyboards on a console, just keep it on the PC.

I disagree warcraft II dark saga was a pretty good rts port for ps1 and sega Saturn and I’d love to see more rts ports to ps4 and xbox one so I say let starcraft II come to consoles so more people as a whole can experience the game
