Will We See More “Torchwood”?

August 1, 2011 By Michael Hickerson 2 Comments

For Torchwood fans, this may not be the best news to hear on a Monday morning.

While the last two seasons have garnered a lot of critical and fan raves, that doesn’t mean the future for the show is secure.  Starz stepped in to help give us a fourth season and beyond that…well, the future is up to creator Russell T. Davies.

Torchwood is not one of the shows we went into thinking about a yearly return,” Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said at the TCA this weekend. “It’s about Russell T Davies … he has a lot of things on his plate. If Torchwood is at the top of his list, that will effect the future of Torchwood.”

Well, on the one hand I want to see more Torchwood. On the other, I’m kinda curious to see what else RTD can do outside this universe. Of course, I’m also still waiting on J.K. Rowling to release some non-Harry Potter work, so it could be awhile. 😉

This doesn’t feel much like “news”. More like “how the TV industry works these days”. Every series only lasts as long as both the production team and the network want to keep making it.
