Four of the five Star Trek series made their debut on Netflix last week. We’d have brought you this story earlier, but our news director has been streaming multiple episodes from various series all week and figured everyone instinctively knew you could now watch Trek streaming because they all had July 1 circled on their calendars.
As part of a new agreement with CBS/Paramount, Netflix is now streaming episodes of classic Star Trek (and still the best!), Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise. DS9 will be added in October.
The classic Trek episodes are the remastered versions and in HD. It was rumored that TNG might be remastered for the streaming service, but it’s still just the standard definition originals (for now). (We expect that the TNG HD remasters will hit Blu-Ray first and then become available for streaming).
If you somehow make it through all the hours of Trek available before October, we’ll also point out that Netflix is also streaming full episodes of another classic series, The Twilight Zone.
