Opening Date for “Thor 2” Set

Opening Date for “Thor 2” Set

July 7, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

While there isn’t a script or a director yet, Marvel has decided on an opening date for the second Thor movie.

Hitfix reports that Marvel has targeted July 26, 2013 for the next Thor installment.  That will be a year after The Avengers movie and only a few months after Iron Man 3 opens.

Director Kenneth Branaugh won’t be returning to the franchise, however.  So the director’s chair is wide open.

The project also doesnt’ yet have a script or writer attached to it.

I was surprised the first one was as good as it was…wasn’t expecting too much…hope the next one is just as good.

Nothing is set until the final take is done. But hey the hype wagon is pulling out of the station, if you get real excited noe maybe you can catch up and jump aboard.

I’m disturbed at Kenneth Branagh not being a part of the sequel. He was able to really capture both the “kingly themes” that are so much a part of Shakespeare (which he knows quite well), as well as balancing it with a fun, comic book feel to the movie.

First it was Jon Favreau, now Kenneth. I can only hope that we’re not seeing the beginnings of a downward trend in how these wonderful movies are being made.
