Producer Jack Kenny says that while Syfy has given the green light for a Warehouse 13 spin-off, the series is still in in the planning stage.
What we do know is that the spin-off will center on season two addition H.G. Wells and that it will take place in 1893, before she appeared on the show.
“We pitched it to [Syfy and] they loved the idea. They told us to come back and pitch some more specifics and stuff,” Kenny tells Zap2It. “Then, all of a sudden, it’s in the press, and we’re doing it [but] we haven’t even finished pitching it!”
Kenny added that Syfy “really loved” the potential series, which would cast Wells as “an action hero… in 1893 England”.
“Syfy loved the character [and] they love that whole world of steampunk,” he explained. “We’re developing it now [but] we [only] had one meeting.”
The producer also named New York and London as possible filming locations for the new series.
“We’d have to have some big stages and build some sets that could be modular and put together for various parts of London and England and things like that,” he said. “[Or] we could have her come to New York and work there. I’ve been reading books about that period, and it’s fascinating and wonderful. We can play with history, anyway, so why not?”
The whole concept sounds brilliant. I know I would watch it, especially if Gareth David-Lloyd was part of the cast. The thing with playing with History you do have some ‘poetic licence’.. cause no-one is around today to ‘beg to differ’.
