New “Magic: The Gathering” Game Launches on X-Box

DUELS OF THE PLANESWALKERS 2012 LAUNCHES WITH DECK EDITING, NEW MULTIPLAYER FORMAT AND MORE

June 15, 2011 – RENTON, WA – Wizards of the Coast today launched Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 globally* on Xbox LIVE® Arcade, PC/Steam® and the PlayStation® Network. This brand new game builds on the success of the original Duels of the Planeswalkers game and is set to thrill Magic: The Gathering fans around the world with all new graphics, decks, multiplayer format and more.  With more than 12 million players and fans in more than 70 countries, Magic delivers players a truly integrated gaming experience across digital and real world.

“With the launch of Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012, we are bringing a brand new game to Magic fans that is full of new features and gameplay,” said Greg Leeds, President, Wizards of the Coast. “We are committed to listening to the feedback of our players, and have embraced that feedback to enhance the overall play experience in Duels 2012 with features like enhanced deck editing and improved co-op play.”

 

With an easy to use tutorial, Duels of the Planeswalkers is the best way for new players to learn Magic: The Gathering. Players that are already familiar with Magic will enjoy a new-to-digital online multiplayer game mode called Archenemy where up to three players team up against the AI Archenemy.  Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 builds on the success of the original game, which sold more than 500,000 copies on XBLA alone.

    I like the game as it allows me to enjoy the game play without having the ‘buy more cards’ addiction of the RL form of the game.
