When Enterprise debuted in 2001, the series was expected to carry the torch for Star Trek for several years on television and then take over on the silver screen says actor Scott Bakula.
At a recent convention in Germany, Bakula told the crowd that he was told that Enterprise would take over on the silver screen.
“We [Enterprise] were going to be the next movie franchise. Going in that’s what we were told,” he says.
But before you get too excited and think we might see a movie about the Romulan War (which would be amazing if done right), Bakula says that he doesn’t think a movie for Enterprise will happen now. He says that with the popularity of the reboot of classic Trek, the odds of making an Enterprise movie are slim to none.
Bakula went on to say that he doesn’t expect to be part of the rebooted franchise in future installments either.
“I’m not anticipating a role in the next Star Trek movie. I was shocked that Archer was even mentioned in the last one!” he says.

Despite its negative publicity and press I actually quite liked Enterprise. There were some good elements to it for sure and while it tried to do too much, I was really sad that it was gone. That being said, the reboot of Trek was really, really done well and a movie that I very much enjoyed. I’m really looking forward to subsequent episodes in that universe now.

I thought it was just starting to hit its stride. I find the first few seasons much easier to watch today than TNG!!!!!! Do not get me worng TNG was good for its time but time has not served it well. TOS, DS9, ENT, TNG, VOY are the preffered order. Alas, these days you do not get time to grow.

Why wouldn’t they have mentioned Archer in the last movie? He is one of the “most important” figures in Star Trek “history” in either timeline.
Charles Boyung says
Bakula’s been saying this for years; pretty much since Enterprise was canceled – how is this news now?
Sam Sloan says
It’s news because he is still saying it, so for him and his fans it still must be worth mentioning.

I almost don’t want belong to even an imaginary universe, where the Vulcan home planet is destroyed it goes against all that the Gene Roddenberry viewed as a hopeful of the future wasn’t that the point of it to be begin with? Show people what could be possible with in the future in a real and plausible development and humanities best attributes rewarded and conquering the universe? Besides Spock was always my mentor and role model, WWSD (what would Spock do) has always been my motto. The Enterprise series other then the Xindi episodes were the best-written and produced episodes of Star Treck. They captured the adventure of our early Moon race mentality and placed it in our not so distant future closer then the original series probably too close for most people to get that humanity will change when we collectively hit rock bottom as a species, just around the corner. When humanity gets beyond it’s own human-terran centric ideals.
