Entertainment Weekly recently interviewed X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn, and got the scoop on his impressions of the film: “It has a lot of angst… the Twilight girls will like it.”
The film is set in the 1960s, and explores the friendship of Charles Xavier (played by James MacAvoy) and Erik Lensherr (played by Michael Fassbender), as they learn more about mutants in the world, and try to prevent a World War III brought about by the Hellfire Club, led by Sebastian Shaw (played by Kevin Bacon)

Mitch from Omaha says
It’s an X-Men movie for Twilight fans? Well there goes my interest.
Lejon from Chandler says
So, should I just pre-emptively avoid this movie because of a comparison to Twilight, or because it will be a super-powered Bond?
I’m torn.
Summer Brooks says
I’m hoping that Vaughn got a little carried away with trying to boil down a story line to a 5 second tagline. I’m hoping that he meant that this story would combine the intrigue of 60s style espionage and highlighting the many ways that needing to keep and protect so many secrets while trying to uncover and prevent a disaster can put stress on a friendship, even one born under fire.
I’m hoping.
KGDC says
WHAT? First, Red Riding Hood… now X-Men? It was emo under Singer anyway.. now Twilight-emo? I wasn’t too thrilled before, now… I’m out.
I’m hoping this is a joke.
Joe from CT says
For God’s sake just give Marvel Studios the rights back so we can get a good X-movie…PLEASE!!!!
