“SGU” Producers Working on Revival

January 18, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 18 Comments

Here’s a bit of good news for “Stargate: Universe” fans. Producers Joseph Mallozzi and Brad Wright are working to see that the show continues.

Mallozzi writes on his blog that the two have had discussions and cleared a major hurdle toward trying a third season picked up.

“[There is] nothing definite as of yet to report, but a minor hurdle was cleared,” he writes. “Quite a few hurdles still lie ahead and there’s always the chance it might all be for naught, but right now, things are looking positive.”

He added that storylines for a potential third run are already being discussed.

“We spent a couple of hours in the late afternoon discussing the… game plan if it all goes well, and… I can assure you that it’ll be very, very exciting for all.”

As most of you know, SyFy gave the series the axe last month. The final ten episodes of season two will air sometime this spring.

This would make my week! I know it’s probably just a slight chance, but I really enjoyed this show. It really disheartened me that Syfy dropped it so quickly – I haven’t wanted to start any new shows as a result…

Have they stopped to think that maybe it was cancelled because it’s not the Stargate that the fans want? I love SG-1, and Atlantis, but SG-U just did not feel like real Stargate to me. I’m all for a new series or a continuation of the first 2, as for SG-U, I will not miss it.

At the risk of getting attacked I suggest the producers move on!

How about we scrap Star Trek, Star Wars, Star Gate and Battlestar and get some new stuff? I call it my “no star” plan.

I can’t be the only one tired of the constant stream of spin-offs, sequels, prequels and re-imaginings of old shows/movies.

I for one hope this comes to fruition. I don’t understand the low ratings and negative comments on SGU. I looked forward to this show every week. Unfortunately, I don’t get SyFy so I watched it online so I didn’t get counted.

Tthere are so many great characters and possible story lines. I wish people would view this as a stand alone show and not wish it was something else (Stargate Atlantis or Stargate SG1 for example). I love that they have put out these story lines that can be picked up later. The aliens, Chloe and the aliens, TJ’s baby, the stones, etc. Then there’s the mystery of the ship, the possible planets they can find, etc.

This show has a very rich universe of story lines to draw upon and the characters are getting more and more complex. There aren’t that many science fiction shows out there. Give it a chance to grow.

Joseph Mallozzi also stated the plan for season 3 was to give us answers about the creators of the giant obelisk and the planet it was located on. We’d finally learn about this mysterious race. I for one hope season 3 happens just to learn this.

Great news to hear they are still fighting to keep it going. Even if it turned out to only be one more season it would be nice to have some closure.

Didn’t they “have a plan” for those SG-1 and Atlantis movies as well? I hope it gets made, but I shall not hold my breath.

SGU is clearly the stargate that SGU fans want so it would be great news for us. Still looking forward to the back 10 whether the show continues or not.

I liked the original movie (not a whole lot, but a bit) but I *never* liked SG1. I watched a few, but only a few episodes .. and *never* watched Atlantis. I really liked SGU and watched every episode. Hope things work out.

Ryan Hartman, I’m with you. Put the main human character on District 9 who turned into an alien on one of their ships with a million real aliens heading to their home planet! lol. Turn that into a series!
