“Smallville” Hopes To Bring Back Zod

December 22, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 8 Comments

Think you’ve seen the last of Zod on “Smallville?”

Maybe not.

Producer Brian Petersen says the character is on the radar to come back for the final season of the show.

“We have hopes of having one great Zod episode,” he revealed. “Nothing set in stone, but we’re hopeful for this year.”

Co-producer Kelly Souders added: “We know what [the episode is] going to be.”

Petersen went on to say the original arc for Zod would have run two years.  But the writing team decided to end it after one season instead.

“Callum had a two-year contract, but even though we had loved Callum, we felt we had really run the character’s arc out,” he says.

That’s right…blame the actor for a writer’s lack of imagination.

Sounds to me like they’re blaming themselves. Besides, having sat through the show last season, I agree with Petersen. The arc was getting a little tired by the time they ended it.

Please, not another contradictory version of Zod. They’ve got two in their continuity already, we don’t need a third.

Not realy contradictory- the most recent Zod was a clone, I think. I agree, though, good that they ended it. If they can’t have a knock-down drag out fight at least as good as the one in Metropolis in Superman 2, than they had to just end it. I am glad that Clark’s destroying that tower had some consequences. I was thinking that somehow nobody seemed to notice its’ destruction!

Yes, the most recent Zod was a clone of the original (before he turned “evil”). As far as I know, the original Zod is still trapped in the Phantom Zone.

forget Zod-do whatever you need to do to bring back Lana Lang & Lex-with the original actors-especially Rosenbaum! beg, plead, whatever you need to do..ending the series w/out a return by those characters would be wrong..

Having Lex back is a great idea, but I could do without Lana. Clark is with Lois now and she’d just get in the way. Plus, she’s got that Kryptonite thing, so she can’t come anywhere near Clark without killing him. Unless, of course, they show Lana, but just not anywhere near Clark. I say just leave her out. She had a good enough exit back in Season 8.
