Behr Will Run “Alphas”

December 21, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

Former “Deep Space Nine” writer and producer Ira Steven Behr will be the showrunner for SyFy’s upcoming series “Alphas.”

It was announced earlier this month that the cable channel had ordered eleven episodes of the series, in addition to the 90-minute pilot.

Deadline now reports that Behr will serve as executive producer on the project, which stars David Strathairn as the eccentric leader of a team with extraordinary mental abilities.

Zak Penn, Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein will all executive produceAlphas alongside Behr. “Lost” director Jack Bender helmed the original pilot.

It’s on the syfy channel, best be safe to wait until it’s given an order for a third season before getting into it. These guys love to develop stories and then suddenly cancel them.

Really? Because this is exactly the kind of “superhero” show I want. Of all the new shows premiering next year, this is the one I’m looking forward to the most.
