When SyFy pulled “Caprica” they promised fans the final five episodes would air in 2011.
And they will.
In a five-hour marathon on January 4.
The Los Angeles Times reports the five episodes will air from 6 to 11 p.m. on January 4. The episodes are called “Blowback, “The Dirteaters,” “The Heavens Will Rise,” “Here Be Dragons” and “Apotheosis” according to the IMDB.
Fans can see the episodes before they air when the season 1.5 box set hits stores on December 21.

At least they aren’t going to drag it out. I hope we get some sort of conclusion and not a cliff-hanger.

Of course we’re going to get a cliff hanger. SyFy dragged it’s heels on this show from day one. The show wasn’t as slow paced as people thought it was, it just seemed like it because of the ludicrous gaps between the pilot and the series, and between the first and second half of the seasons. They were supposed to decide whether or not to renew it MONTHS before they actually did, which probably gave the writers false hope, so they probably set up something huge in the finale.

Doubt I’ll watch it to just be hanging with a cliffhanger at the end. They should at least try to wrap it up some way…get together to film a final eppy or something. I know it’s a lot to ask for on a canceled series but there have been a few others that have done it. I would have liked to see some sort of tie in with BSG at the end.

What I don’t understand is why they’re waiting to air the episodes until two weeks after they’ll be available on DVD. Do they really think that people will make a point of watching or DVRing when they can just buy the whole series or get it from Netflix to watch at their own convenience?
AndyMac says
As much as I liked Caprica I probably won’t buy the discs. What incentive is there for me to do so? I’m fairly pissed about how Syfy handled the series. Why should I reward them for it?
I won’t bother with Netflix either. I will probably DVR them and wait to find out if they wrap things up or if it’s a cliff-hanger. If it’s a cliff hanger I probably won’t watch the episodes.

So, is this their equivalent of taking the show out back and shooting it?
Sam says
@Melissa — Yup. Just like Ole Yeller. (sob) 🙁

I agree with Mellissa.

seen it, it’s as good as I think one could expect under the circumstances. They keep the quality of writing, acting, and effects very high IMSHO. No real cliffhangers, they attempt to wrap it all up and connect it somewhat to BSG. Definitely worth watching if you liked things up to now.
Really sad to see this one taken out back… it had such promise

I think Moore and Eick did an admirable job under the circumstances. They tied up the loose-ends nicely, And, while the last 10 minutes of the final episode did feel a little rushed, I thought they were able to bring the series to a satisfactory conclusion without any kind of needless cliffhanger. It makes me have a change of heart about purchasing the DVD set once it becomes available in Blu-ray. I think the specials alone will be worth the purchase price.
