Jolie Was Whedon’s Ideal Wonder Woman

Jolie Was Whedon’s Ideal Wonder Woman

November 18, 2010 By Michael Hickerson 3 Comments

Once upon a time, Joss Whedon was writing a script for a big-screen adaptation of Wonder Woman.

Whedon eventually left the project and his script was never made.  But during his involvement with the project a lot of Mutant Enemy alums were bantered about as the actress to take on the reigns of Wonder Woman.

But who would Whedon have chosen if he’d continued working on the project?

Angelina Jolie.

“For me, Wonder Woman was basically Angelina Jolie,” Whedon tells EW. “She spends a lot of time flying around. She works in a lot of different countries. She’s very global. And she’s appalled by the way people treat each other.”

Wonder Woman is now being developed by David E. Kelly for a weekly TV series.

Jolie, eh, maybe, she doesn’t do it for me. Now, David E Kelley, listen to me, Bridget Regan as Wonder Woman, or your show will fail.

It might have been interesting to see Jolie in the part, but I have a lot of problems with it.
1.) She brings way to much baggage with her. Wonder Woman should have an otherworldly view of mankind rather than a well-worn worldly knowledge of mankind.
2.) They’d never be able to afford her and make a good movie (sorry, sorry, I forgot about Serenity)
3.) Seriously, why not Bridget Regan?

I’d say go with a ‘relatively unknown’ actor. So to echo the sentiments of Sean From Edwards and Lejon from Chandler: WHY NOT BRIDGET REGAN?
