SyFy Announces Air Dates for “Eureka,” “Warehouse 13” Holiday Episodes

November 17, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 6 Comments

Our news director is still dancing at the news that the upcoming “Doctor Who” holiday special will air in the U.S. the same day it airs in the U.K.

And now we’ve got some more good holiday-episode news.

SyFy has announced the air dates for the upcoming “Eureka” and “Warehouse 13” holiday episodes.

The episodes will air back-to-back on Tuesday, December 7, starting at 9 p.m. EST.

Here’s the information from the SyFy press release:

SYFY SETS PREMIERE DATE FOR HOLIDAY-THEMED
EPISODES OF EUREKA AND WAREHOUSE 13

Special Episodes Will Air Back-to-Back on Tuesday December 7th
With Eureka at 9 pm ET/PT and Warehouse 13 at 10 pm ET/PT

New York, New York – October 11, 2010 – On December 7th, 2010, Syfy fans will no longer have to imagine what the holidays would be like in their favorite quaint town of geniuses or government hideaway. Two of Syfy’s most popular original scripted series, Eureka and Warehouse 13, will debut special stand-alone holiday episodes, with Eureka airing at 9 pm ET/PT and Warehouse 13 airing at 10 pm ET/PT.

On Eureka, as the Global Dynamics employees celebrate the season at the company
holiday party, staff member Dr. Noah Drummer (Chris Parnell) nearly absconds with a volatile experiment. The halls get seriously decked when Dr. Drummer’s unstable hydrogen crystal starts to grow at a frightening rate. Carter (Colin Ferguson) and Henry (Joe Morton) attempt to deal with the potentially explosive crystal, but before long the true scope of the problem is revealed, and it will take more than tinsel and carolers to save Christmas and Eureka. Former series regular Matt Frewer also returns as Taggert.

In this “long lost holiday episode” of Warehouse 13, as the Warehouse team prepares to celebrate the holidays in snowy South Dakota, Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly) are called upon to hunt down a malevolent Santa Claus. Meanwhile, in time for Hanukkah, Artie and his estranged father, Isadore Weisfelt reunite after 30 years. Award-winning actor Judd Hirsch returns to television guest starring as Artie’s father. Paul Blackthorne also guest stars as a harried work-a-holic who becomes terrorized by a strange series of robberies committed by a thief dressed as “jolly old Saint Nick!”

I already figured that it would be December 7th. That’s one week after the mid-season finale of “Stargate Universe”.

Too bad he was’t coming back AS Dresden. THAT would be cool!

First rumors fly that Syfy is stealing Torchwood to Americanize it.
Then they actually nab Being Human.
And now with the Holiday Specials.

Huh? There have been holiday specials in lots of US shows for a long time. TNT and USA have been doing them for more than a few years, with The Closer, Leverage, The Dead Zone having them in between seasons. It’s not like British TV has a proprietary claim on the holidays.

When is the Warehouse 13 Christmas special gonna be on SyFy in the UK? It can’t have been on the Dec 7th. I’m sure I’ve seen advertised in the last few days & I’ve been searching for it online all afternoon. I found someone els asking if they’d missed it posted only yesterday on Dec 13th but thats as much as I’ve found so far. & anyway if it has already been on where’s the repeat?
