With “Torchwood” being partially funded by Starz next season and moving out of its Cardiff home, you may think that could be the end for crossovers of that series with “Doctor Who.”
But that isn’t the case says Russell T. Davies. Davies says he keeps in contact with new “Who” producer Steven Moffat to make sure the shared universe of both shows are on track and could possibly feature a crossover should the story arise.
“Steven [Moffat] knows the plot of The New World. As a courtesy, I sent him a synopsis and said, “Is that going to clash with anything you’re doing?” We both have enough awareness of each other’s worlds to avoid that. And I still executive produce The Sarah Jane Adventures in Britain. I’m still working on that, and that works in synch with Doctor Who. So we are still very much aware of each plans, without spoiling each other’s news. We’re very careful to make sure that we behave within the Doctor Who world, while still being completely free to tell our own stories,” Davies tells IGN.
But whether or not Captain Jack returns to “Doctor Who” remains to be seen.
“Well, Steven said he’d love to see Jack in Doctor Who. So if Steven says that, Steven will make it happen, I would think. That’s not inside information, but I bet one day it will happen. I’d love to see it. It would be marvelous,” Davies adds.
Robin says
Not at all surprising. I mean, Jack has to meet Eleven and Amy at some point, no? It’s, like, a rule that the pansexual immortal guy has to hit on each incarnation and companion.
And I’d love to see Martha back on Torchwood, preferably with Mickey as well. (It’s not like they couldn’t use the extra personnel after killing off 2/3 of the staff in the course of three seasons.)
