The first two installments of “Diablo” were personal computer only. Now Blizzard is looking into the option of expanding the best-selling game to consoles with the upcoming release of “Diablo III”
The company is testing the waters to see if the popular game could be supported on a console and if there is a market for it to be played on consoles.
The firm recently posted job listings for a lead designer, lead programmer and senior producer for a console version of “Diablo III.”
“As some of you may have seen over on the Diablo III home page, we’re currently exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles,” the company said in a statement to Eurogamer.
“As we’ve said in the past, with proper care the gameplay could suit the console platform, and we’re interested in seeing what talent out there might be interested in contributing to such a project.
“To further reiterate what’s posted on the home page: this is not an announcement of a console title. We are first and foremost developing Diablo III for Windows and Mac PCs, and we have no intention of allowing a console interpretation to delay or otherwise affect the release of the game.”
I played the first Diablo on my Playstation.
If it lands on PS3 I am in. I stopped playing games on the PC due to cost of keeping up with processor speed and video card upgrades. I am also praying that Tribes finds its way to the PS3 too….
