If you’ve got a pre-order in for EA’s “NBA Elite 11,” you may want to get your deposit back.
The game company announced this week that its decided to cancel release of the game.
EA’s chief financial officer Eric Brown broke the news during an investor’s call. The game has been delayed several times and has now been removed from the company’s web site.
“Future development of that franchise will be handled at EA Tiburon in Orlando,” EA COO John Schappert added, confirming previous reports that the Madden NFL studio would pick up where previous NBA Elite developer EA Canada left off.
EA’s basketball sim, which attempted to reinvigorate the series formerly known as NBA Live, was delayed in September. EA Sports president Peter Moore chalked up the delay to “concerns about gameplay polish,” writing that the basketball sim needed more development time.

Please EA release NBA Live/Elite 11. I would pay any amount for the game. NBA live 10 was so great. I loved it and so did my friends.

NBA live 10 is the only game I play on my PS3. My friends and I play on it all the time. I’ve recommended this game to about 20 people already and they’ve all bought the game and said they love it. I went to GameStop the other day and bought NBA 2K11 and it was horrible. Once I found out that NBA Live/Elite 11 was canceled, I told all my friends and they were devastated. My friend said to me me that he hates NBA 2K11 and loves NBA Live 10. Please release NBA Live/Elite 11.
